The lapwing

The lapwing is symbolic of bird life in the Jæren area. Its arrival is a sure sign of the long-awaited coming of spring. Lapwings nest on the fields and on marshland, but their populations have declined dramatically since the 1980s. Photo: Roy Mangersnes
