Lines and designs in stone

Many stones reveal patterns of lines and strange designs that reflect the original stratification in the rocks. Sometimes a boulder will consist of two different rock types. At other times, thin veins that of pure white quartz can be seen penetrating the stones. These were formed when the quartz precipitated from hot, volcanic waters that once passed through fractures in the original rock.
