Rounding and polishing

Sharp and angular rocks are rolled around and polished to form elegant rounded stones, which may be egg-shaped, discoid or simply rounded at the edges – depending on the internal structure of the rock in question. Over thousands of years, the rolling and abrasion against other rocks caused by wave action has produced the most beautiful and perfectly-formed rounded stones and boulders.
